24-Hour Drying Timeline

Multiplicative thermodynamic model tracking Temperature, Dew Point spread, and Drying Score.

Why Dew Point Matters?

Dew Point & Evaporation Spread

The wider the gap between Ambient Temp and Dew Point, the faster clothes dry. If Temp equals Dew Point, relative humidity is 100% and evaporation completely stops.

How DryOutdoors.com Calculates Line Drying Weather

Dew Point Spread Physics
Evaporation is driven by the temperature-to-dew-point spread. A wide gap (>6°C) means the air has high moisture capacity. When the dew point approaches ambient temperature, humidity hits 100% and clothes will condense wetness.
Multiplicative Factor Model
Our formula uses multiplicative multipliers (0.05 to 1.0) instead of basic addition. High wind cannot dry clothes if humidity is 100%, allowing single critical factors to accurately veto bad drying days.
Boundary Layer & Dew Risk
Optimal winds (8–18 mph) sweep away the trapped boundary layer of saturated air without tangling clothes. Always bring washing in before dusk when dew points align with dropping evening temperatures.
